Youth Disability Support Worker – Sunshine Coast

Total Development Program provides support and care to our most vulnerable children and young people as well as their families within our community. Our services are available to people on the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and Wide Bay regions. Our Sunshine Coast team currently have an opening for Youth Disability Support Workers to join in our support in community program.

Using a therapeutic care model the Youth Worker delivers support to children and young people within foster, kinship and residential placements. The role is varied and fulfilling and requires diverse staff to attain the needs of the individuals that we support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan appropriate activities with young people prioritising their safety and individual needs
  • Provide direct support services in accordance with individual care plans
  • Maintain clients personal care, and medication administration
  • Implement positive behavioural support plans to care for young people with complex and challenging behaviour
  • Be a positive role model
  • Assist young people to maintain good personal hygiene
  • Day to Day care, including assistance with medication, transport, support with education and relationships
  • Completion of administration duties in line with legislative and contract requirements

To Be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Prior experience as a youth support worker and have completed or currently undertaking relevant study
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Suitable availability to work a rotating flexible roster (may include day, afternoon, sleepovers and weekend shifts)
  • Current first aid certificate (or willing to obtain)

Must hold or be willing to obtain:

  • Valid drivers license with no restrictions + fully insured own vehicle
  • QLD working with children check (Blue Card)
  • National Crime Check
  • Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
  • First Aid + CPR certificate
  • Under QLD Government mandate you must be fully COVID vaccinated by the 15th December 2021 (provide evidence through Mygov record or immunisation history statement)
