(Job 2) Senior/Lead Technical Test Analyst – SFIA level 4

 

Description:

We are looking for someone to support the project delivery as a solid and experienced Test Analyst.  You will have a systematic and collaborative approach to test planning and execution, strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of teams and technologies.

Reporting to the Test Manager/Test Lead the Test Analyst will be responsible for participating in analysing requirements and translating those to test cases.  The Test Analyst will perform test execution across multiple platforms and contribute to reviews and participate in workshops and sprint ceremonies as applicable. 

This role requires someone who is a confident communicator and well experienced in Waterfall and Agile methodologies to be able to deliver in accordance to the Test Strategy.

(Job 1) Senior/Lead Test Analyst (Application, System Integration, Interagency, Data Warehouse, UAT, Desktop) – SFIA level 4

 

Primary responsibilities:

The services will include and not be limited to:

  • Implement the test strategy and test plan across all projects/change;
  • Implement and adhere to testing methods and standards in line with department standards.
  • Assist the Enterprise Testing and Quality Assurance section and other teams with testing activities this may include peer reviews, walk throughs;
  • Provide estimates of testing effort and progress for project management and planning activities;
  • Identify process improvements and assists in their implementation;
  • Assign tasks to the test team and ensure timely delivery of test outcomes with quality results;
  • Assist in the production release and review of all test deliverables;
  • Ensure that the test environment requirements are clearly documented and agreed;
  • Execution of test scripts (when required);
  • Adhere to the Defect Management strategy to manage defects;
  • Produce metrics to measure testing quality and progress.
  • Escalate risks, issues and assumptions identified during test planning, design or execution and communicate them to the Test Manager;
  • Work closely with business to clarify test requirements during test planning, design and execution;
  • Support Test Manager in developing Test Estimates, Test Schedule(s), Impact Analysis and resource co- ordination;
  • Prepare test signoff artefacts of test activity prior to production implementation;
  • Training and mentoring of staff involved in test design and execution;
  • Liaise with Business Analysts, System Analysts, Architects and Business Subject Matter Experts to clarify intended system behaviour and supporting business processes;
  • Collaborate with many stakeholders and subject matter experts including the co-ordination of UAT with multiple business teams;
  • Work with various testing methodologies including Waterfall and Agile; and
  • Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices.

Experience and Skills…

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business Systems, or a related discipline; or relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience (5+years) as Test Lead, including:
  • Working independently, at the direction of the Test Manager, following testing processes.
  • Experience in preparing test estimations and test schedules for the testing activities in the projects.
  • Strong experience in the preparation of test strategy, plans, test cases, test and defect reporting.
  • Experience in application, system integration and mobile device testing.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps or
  • MicroFocus ALM and ALM Octane.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of testing practices and processes in agile and
  • waterfall project environment.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Datawarehouse testing and lead experience for Datawarehouse Test Lead role.
  • Interagency testing and lead experience for
  • Interagency Test Lead role.
  • UAT testing and lead experience for UAT Test Lead role.
  • Desktop testing and lead experience for Desktop Lead role.

 

Qualifications…

Mandatory:

  • ISTQB Foundation Certificate or equivalent certificate, or relevant practical experience
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst or equivalent
  • ISTQB Agile Tester certificate
  • or equivalent.
  • Tertiary qualification in IT
  • Experience or knowledge of, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automation test tools.

Desirable:

  • ISTQB Advanced Level Agile Technical Tester or equivalent
  • ISTQB Foundation Level Mobile Application Testing or equivalent
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Technical Test Analyst or equivalent
  • ISTQB Foundation Agile Extension Certificate or equivalent
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer or equivalent

 

(Job 2) Technical Test Analyst – SFIA level 2

Primary responsibilities:

The services will include and not be limited to:

  • Perform script analysis, test estimation, track work against estimates, report variances to team management, and manage resources to ensure project deliverables are met;
  • Extensive Analytical skills –Review project documents – with the ability to analyse highly complex systems and interdependencies, identifying key automation tests with a view on Return on Investment (ROI);
  • Continuously monitor, analyse and provide recommendations to improve ROI and funnel effectiveness, as well as optimise and streamline existing scripts and processes;
  • Create, execute, and report high-quality test artefacts such as matrix, cases, defects, complex test data, ensuring adherence to section standards and guidelines;
  • Set up execution schedules and maintain farm machines
  • Responsible for identifying, designing, building, and maintaining test automation suites using appropriate tools;
  • Assist and maintain Test Automation Framework;
  • Provides recommendations towards financial planning and budgeting within the project and using sound judgement collates and provides an analysis of financial data and reports to facilitate decision making;
  • Assist in identifying and implement individual and team training and development plans, and monitor progress to remedy knowledge and skill gaps;
  • Working with manual testers, developers, and Business Analysts to ensure upstream test planning is optimised for the efficient delivery of automated testing;
  • Provide clear and concise comments, which needs to be accurate and representative to the test artefacts (STLC), ensuring they meet the standards of the section;
  • Raise defects and monitor defect queues for yourself and peers, advising when queues are not actioned promptly as per section guidelines;
  • Coach, mentor, and provide on-the-job training to automation resources and manual testers participating in automation training;
  • Assist in improving test automation capabilities to increase efficiencies in delivery and support;
  • Tailor your communication (written and verbal) to the respective audience;
  • Demonstrate ethical behaviour and integrity to enhance team culture and contribute to a positive workplace;
  • Participate or facilitate meetings for internal testing operations and external workshops;
  • Adapts easily to changes applying sound judgement;
  • Initiate, build, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the ICT Division, business, and operational areas, internally and externally; and
  • Establish and maintain professional networks to support portfolio and project outcomes

  • Demonstrated experience (6+years) as a Senior/Lead Technical Test Analyst, including:
  • Programming/scripting experience.
  • Significant experience with testing automation tools (Selenium, TestNG, junit, Appium)
  • Experience testing in a Windows environment with different application stacks such as: Siebel, .Net, and SAP.
  • Experience working in CI/CD environment.
  • Experience in mobile automation and API automation.
  • Experience with Test Management tools
  • Proven knowledge and experience working with various testing methodologies including Waterfall and Agile
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to work in agile teams.
  • Ability to set direction for test automation and implement the enterprise automation test strategy.
  • Delivery focused, demonstrated track record of seeing projects through to completion.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and in timely manner.
  • Attention to details and quality focus with enterprise vision.

 

Qualifications…

Mandatory:

  • High level of capability with a range of test automation tools and languages, such as VBScript/.NET, Selenium, Java, Rest Assured, Maven and SoapUI, Java, SQL, HTML, and other languages.
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst or equivalent
  • ISTQB Foundation Agile Extension Certificate or equivalent, or relevant practical experience
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Agile Technical Tester or equivalent
  • ISTQB Foundation Level Mobile Application Testing or equivalent
