We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Estimator to join our team. As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing tender submissions for a broad range of civil construction projects, including earthworks, civil & utility works relating to residential, industrial & commercial land development, public infrastructure and general building works.This position is a senior member of the Estimating team, providing guidance, direction, and coaching to junior team members to achieve successful outcomes.

We have multiple projects underway and more commencing soon. Operating within Sydney’s expanding Northwest & Southwest, Hunter and Illawarra regions, our projects vary in size and complexity, affording significant experience to the right candidate.

In this position, you’ll be:

  • Lead the tender process for assigned tenders, ensuring estimates are accurate and prepared in a timely manner, collaborate with Bid Team members and ensure the final submission is submitted at a high standard and on time.
  • Upon receipt of tender documentation, review and assess proposal specifications and drawings to determine required contents of estimate in collaboration with Estimating Manager.
  • Work with construction teams and attend site visits for scope of works to be determined for each project.
  • Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors, prepare appropriate pricing packages and inquire, dissect and evaluate sub-contract bids.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with sub-contractors and clients, ensuring a positive company image is maintained. 
  • Monitor progress of the project, requisition change orders, identify any potential risks, and discuss with the Estimating Manager. 
  • Ensure construction teams are provided with correct documentation related to the projects and work through any queries and concerns.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with all key internal stakeholders for successful outcomes to be achieved. 
  • Play a key leadership role in the Estimating department and motivate others to accomplish team goals. 

We are looking for someone who has: 

To be successful in the role you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. 
  • Demonstrated estimating and/or project experience within civil construction.
  • Previous experience estimating projects above the $10 million range. 
  • Excellent ability to understand and interpret financial data and bills of quantities and demonstrated knowledge of industry tender packages and processes. 
  • Sound understanding of contractual procedures. 
  • Some CAD & Earthwork modelling software experience.
  • Previous experience with cost estimating software.
  • Ability to write reports and professional tender documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others. 
  • Highly developed analytical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a team collaboratively.
