About the Opportunity

Applications are invited for the position of scientist in the Centre Bench Department at their Bowen Hills laboratory.

The role will suit a challenge-driven diagnostic scientist who is looking for a change from the 24hr or overnight rotational roster while still being able to utilise their clinical and scientific knowledge.

The successful applicant will be required to use their clinical knowledge to investigate and resolve recollections, amended reports, patient misidentifications and missing specimens. The role includes facilitating the collection, transport and testing of precious samples and specimens for Sendaways testing referred to other laboratories.

This is a high level troubleshooting role that requires critical thinking and detailed problem solving and includes liaising with collection and laboratory staff, pathologists, referring doctors and referral laboratories.

Rostered hours are 06:00 – 22:00 Monday to Friday. Participation in the Saturday and public holiday roster is required.

About You

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the following key attributes:

  • university degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent
  • minimum 3 years diagnostic pathology laboratory experience (preferably multi-disciplinary)
