About the Team
The Safety, Environment and Regulation division upholds safety and sustainability in our transport system. We’re working to deliver globally-recognised, safe, sustainable transport for our people, customers and the community.
Within SER we have the Safety Branch including the Safe Systems and Programs team which is focussing on safer people outcomes by ensuring that its operations and Safer Systems programs are aligned with current and emerging business trends and best practice.
The School Crossing Program is one of these programs which is responsible for managing School Crossing Supervisor Supervisors who are located at over 1500 locations across NSW ensuring the safety of NSW school students at these locations.
The opportunity
Right now, we have a Fixed Term full-time opportunity (Approx 9 months from February 2022) for a highly experienced people manager with excellent organisation skills to oversee, organise and mentor school crossing supervisors who are dispersed across large geographical area around Coffs Harbour. This role will be based in Coffs Harbour and you will be required to travel to a range of locations.
This role involves a variety of duties from being the local point of contact for both the community,councils, school principals, police and all supervisors themselves. You will be overseeing the work of the School Crossing Supervisors which includes site visits, rostering, performance management, recruitment, managing incidents, conducting investigations and building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders.

About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, proactive person who has excellent communication skills, both oral and written, fantastic time management, a strong customer service ethos and is empathetic and calm.
You will be deadline driven and have an outgoing personality with a community focus and be prepared to go “above and beyond†to achieve the key values of Transport for NSW and the School Crossing Supervisor Program.
You must have:
A current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license and be willing to work outside regular working hours and travel on a regular basis.
- Strong supervisory/people management experience and the ability to manage a large team of permanent part-time and casual staff.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Work Health & Safety issues.
- A high level of computing skills including the use of information management systems, databases and producing spreadsheets with the ability to monitor and report on program outputs
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is USS Grade 7 ($94,824 – $100,075) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
