Safety and training Officer

We are looking for a member to join our Barooga based manufacturing team as a Safety and Training Officer.  MON Natural Foods is a successful manufacturer of condiments (sauces, mayonnaise, vinegar) for the supermarket retail industry that has a history stretching back to 1899.

About the role

As a key member of our operations team you will have responsibility of building on our positive safety culture on our site.  You will be reporting directly to the site manager and be involved in site wide planning and decision making with our team.

A key part of this role is in developing and implementing OH&S procedure and policy.   This will involve engaging with key stakeholders on various issues to achieve positive outcomes.  Of vital importance is the training aspect to further develop the skills of our operational staff and further champion the cause of safety across the site.  You will need to be self motivated and outcome focused.

Specific duties will include:

• Progressing opportunities for continuous improvement
• Onboarding new staff through the induction process
• Ongoing development of policies and procedures
• Reporting for senior management on safety related outcomes
• With the support of the wider team, maintaining a strong safety culture 
• Knowledge of compliance requirements and standard updates
• Engage with staff regarding feedback on safety and training opportunities
• Review gaps in OH&S and work with the team to eliminate identified risks
• Encouraging the team to live out organisations mission

 

What we are looking for

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Training and/or qualifications in OH&S and training would be ideal
• Good communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
• Knowledge of training related software solutions would be a plus
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment 
• Ability to approach issues with a positive mindset and see solutions through
• Understanding of WHS requirements and best practice
