The Project Officer contributes to the management of a priority grant program within the Energy Projects and Programs Division of the Energy Group. The program is designed to assist recovery from the 2019-20 summer bushfires in eastern Victoria while also reducing bushfire risk and building resilience in the face of climate change. The Project Officer sits within the Powerline Bushfire Safety Program team, managing projects to replace dangerous, old private powerlines with safer, more reliable underground connections and contributing to the team’s work on other initiatives.

The Project Officer’s experience in government project/program delivery allows them to provide guidance, advice and direction for activities needed to deliver on this program within specified timeframes, budget and to the satisfaction of the Program Manager and executives. Additionally, the position requires preparation of high-quality written products such as briefings and correspondence, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with key personnel in electrical distribution businesses and other government agencies.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in public policy, program management, and project delivery is desirable.
  • An understanding of government processes including grants administration is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 31 December 2022.
