About the Roles
Utilise your advanced clinical reasoning and clinical skills to manage adult and paediatric patients with fractures, sprains, radiculopathy, spinal pain and other musculoskeletal presentations in these Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (AMP) roles.
This position requires work in Monash Health Emergency Departments (EDs), along with the opportunity to work in Advanced Practice Screening Clinics. Work collaboratively with Senior Medical staff including ED Consultants, Orthopaedic Registrars/Consultants, and Neurosurgery Consultants to ensure the best management for Monash Health patients.
All AMP staff work in at least two of our three locations with Emergency departments (Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital and Clayton – Monash Medical Centre/Monash Children’s Hospital). In addition to those sites, AMP Screening clinics are also conducted at Moorabbin Hospital (East Bentleigh).
AMP Emergency Department shifts are from 930-1800, except Clayton (Monash Medical Centre/Monash Children’s Hospital) weekend shifts which are from 1100-1900. AMP Screening clinics are normally completed from 800-1630. Regular weekend work is a requirement for this AMP position and all staff are expected to contribute to working public holiday shifts.
Extensive supervision and training is provided for new AMP staff through a competency based training and assessment program to ensure credentialing of skills and maintenance of high standards of care.
You will possess a strong patient-centred focus, be highly skilled in the acute assessment and management of musculoskeletal complaints, and have well developed communication skills.
Experience in the ED setting and a clear understanding of the limits of the scope of practice for Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists are required for this position. Extensive musculoskeletal clinical experience in either the public or private setting is essential. Experience in working with paediatric patients is advantageous as 40% of patients seen by Monash Health AMPs in ED are children.
Become part of the dynamic and supportive team in the Physiotherapy Department and Emergency Departments.
What you need:
- Proven musculoskeletal physiotherapy experience
- Experience in the ED setting
- Knowledge and experience working closely with an inter professional team
- Current practicing physiotherapy AHPRA registration
- Current Drivers Licence

What’s in it for you?
- Attractive salary including salary packaging opportunities
- Work closely with the Monash Health AMP team and Senior Specialist Medical staff and leverage their expertise to progress your career with us
- Opportunities to use your drive for innovation to grow and develop services to meet the changing landscape within the broader healthcare system.
