The Role
We now have opportunities available for Technicians to join our Infrastructure Development Construction team in NSW as Permit Issuing Officers on an 8 month basis from OCT 2021 to approx. MAY 2022 (or until end of project).

Rostered shift is 21days on – 7days off.
Site works will initially start in Tibooburra NSW and continue down to Young and Wilton NSW.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Permit Issuing Officer acts as the safety and compliance representative at the excavation site, ensuring compliance to the excavation procedure, to all safety requirements and best practice work activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control site works including site inductions and scheduled activities to ensure compliance.
  • Manage the permit to work ensuring all work party members sign onto the permit and understand the permit conditions, including on-site development of the JHA.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with contractors and the project team.
  • Ensure progress information is correctly reported to Project Management team, for inclusion into daily reports.
  • Assist the Construction Supervisor in the construction activities and process to ensure efficient and smooth completion of work activities.
  • Induct subsequent personnel and site visitors onto the site, ensuring they understand the contents of the JHA, any associated requirements and sign onto the permit.

About You

  • Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation or similarly relevant trade certificate and/or field experience.
  • Project construction/excavation experience an advantage.
  • Able to competently use relevant computer applications to analyse data and records.
  • Good interpersonal skills to communicate to all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven ability working in a team environment and able to take a leadership role.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong commitment to Safety and Safety Management systems.
  • Able to travel and work in remote locations for extended periods.
