St Margaret’s has a long, proud history of women in sport.  The school was one of three founding members of the Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) in 1908, an association that continues today.  The primary school is a member of the Andrews Cup Competition.  As testament to the school’s commitment to the sporting program at the school, in 2020 the school’s sports precinct was opened.  This world class facility incorporates a water polo sized heated swimming pool with two 50m lanes, tennis courts, gymnasium, a strength and conditioning gym, an indoor climbing wall featuring seven belay stations and 76m2 of climbing and modern health and physical education classrooms.


St Margaret’s netball teams represent the school in various competitions throughout the year. This includes QGSSSA competition, Downey Park Netball Association club competition, QISSN and the Vicki Wilson Cup school competition. 

The netball program is coordinated by our Head of Netball, and supported by Teacher Assistants, a Lead Coach and a number of Coaches.  Coaches lead one or two training sessions per week with fixtures to be held on Saturdays. 

We are currently seeking a number of Coaches for our 2022 netball season. The role of coach is to deliver coaching sessions developed by the Lead Coach which encourage students in skill and technique development.  To view the position description please click here.


You will be an experienced and qualified coach who has a proven ability to develop young Netball players skills and instil a passion for the sport.  

Essential requirements:

  • Have, or be working towards, a minimum Netball Australia – Foundation Coaching accreditation.  Netball Australia Development Coaching accreditation or higher will be highly regarded.
  • Previous coaching experience.
  • Experience in playing netball.
  • A working with children blue card or exemption card.
  • A current first aid and CPR certificate.
