About the Role

As the UX/UI Lead you will be responsible for the oversight of all UX/UI app and web design patterns and processes across the group. You will be the lead designer in charge of owning and maintaining the design system and our digital brand and experience guidelines. 

You will be required to review and uplift the ways of working / Design ops, leading a team of 8 designers day to day, providing direction and guidance. Working with the head of design you will assist with the planning of design activities for your team along with recruitment of other designers. You will have a proven track record of leading a team of designers, growing and of steering the skillsets of others and delivering digital experiences from initial concept strategy to launched and maintained product.

In addition to this you will have your own design stream within our BAU app space, working with digital, product, marketing and IT development colleagues to design changes to the Virgin Money Australia and BOQ app. You will use your extensive experience in UX/UI Design to evaluate, facilitate and design all the features contributing to user experience, providing expertise and contribution to user requirements, concepts, screen designs and user flows that ensure that the user is at the centre of our products.

The role will also be required to rapidly wireframe, test with customers and iterate designs based on this feedback to produce production ready finished products. Leveraging a combination of design thinking, lean start up and agile methodologies the UI/UX Designer will be experienced in managing design processes end to end.  The role balances strong customer understanding and design skills and hands on project involvement, stakeholder management and collaboration. You will be an advocate for customer, human centred design, lean UX and agility for the organisation.

About you

• 7+ years experience in UI/UX and visual design (mobile and web);
• 7+ years experience in end-to-end-execution from insight and concept to go live;
• 7+ years demonstrated experience of partnering with product managers and developers;
• 5+ years experience with design and prototyping tools such as Photoshop, Sketch, InVision, and Miro;
• 5+ years involvement in customer research and testing;
• 5+ years experience in facilitating design sprints;
• Proven experience working in UI or Product design function within a lean, agile and/or startup environment;
• Strong commercial acumen, looking to balance the drive for improvement with recognition of stakeholder needs and external regulators; and;
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement.
