About the program

The People & Culture (P&C) team provides leadership in the development and provision of HR strategies and practices that support Melbourne City Mission (MCM) and its high school Hester Hornbrook Academy (HHA) to bring out the full potential of its people to achieve outcomes with their clients to build better lives.

About the role

The Human Resources (HR) Business Partner is a key support role to our program areas and will contribute to outcomes over the next twelve months by:

  • Working with line managers to address performance and conduct related matters including workplace and complaint investigations.
  • Growing management capability and confidence to enable effective people management to occur in the right moment at the right place.
  • Impacting recruitment strategies to respond to talent attraction challenges in our programs.
  • Supporting enterprise agreement negotiations and implementation for our Early Years workforce to deliver updated competitive work conditions.
  • Supporting the implementation of organisational HR strategies including Workforce Plan and Employee Value Proposition development and roll out.

Skills and experience

Some experience and attributes that suitable candidates would bring to their application are:

  • A broad range of employee relations/case management experience that will enable them to competently support and coach managers through performance and conduct conversations and investigations.
  • Practical working knowledge of employment legislation and industrial instruments like enterprise agreements.
  • The ability to be flexible to adapt and respond with an ‘up for the challenge’ attitude in complex and fast-paced environments.
  • The ability to connect and grow relationships with colleagues, managers and other stakeholders through engaging interactions and communications to achieve outcomes together.
  • End to end recruitment skills including experience improving recruitment processes and candidate experiences.
