As a result of a realignment of business needs, we have been retained exclusively to recruit a Head of Legal & Company Secretary to provide reliable, timely, high-quality and commercially relevant advice and service to our client’s Australian operations on a broad range of issues with a particular focus on contractual, governance, safety, environmental, trademarks, property, and board related matters. This position reports into the Senior Executive Team and will work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary end to end team to deliver commercial legal advice, uphold governance and act as company secretary for the Australian entities.

The selection process will be based upon your demonstrated experience in a senior legal and governance role ideally within the agricultural / primary production and / or FMCG industries. This experience can have been acquired within a law firm or inhouse environment.

In addition, the following knowledge, experience and qualifications are essential:

• Tertiary qualifications in Law;
• Admission as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland or eligibility for immediate admission;
• Qualifications in governance and / or company secretarial function (desirable);
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience with a corporate / commercial law focus;
• Experience in IPO’s and knowledge of ASX requirements, Corporations Law and Listing rules;
• Overseas cross border transactional experience;
• Strong commercial acumen, a high level of professional ethics, excellent drafting and, reviewing and negotiating skills;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels in the business;
• Demonstrated ability to manage and influence multiple stakeholders and build a trusted adviser relationship;
• Ability to work autonomously within a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Additionally, we are looking for a person that enjoys working through challenges, someone who takes ownership and advocates for our client’s customers, someone that finds opportunity and alternative solutions to problems, and most importantly someone that embraces the products and brands they represent and translates that excitement to customers.

This is a permanent opportunity and is based at our client’s well appointed premises on the Sunshine Coast. Whilst candidates who meet the key criteria from interstate and Brisbane are also invited to apply, please note that the preferred base for this role will be at the Sunshine Coast, working predominantly within the office premises. Our client will consider those who are open to commuting however the preference is long term you be based at the Sunshine Coast.
