About the Position

This role is responsible for leading the Strategy, Policy and Governance functions, supporting an outcome based, contemporary approach to corporate governance. This leadership role will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary stakeholders at all levels across the organisation. 

Key Deliverables of the position:

Responsibilities and duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • leading and implementing an outcome-based approach to strategic and corporate planning, supporting strategic integration across the City
  • leading the periodic development and implementation of the Corporate Plan (legislative requirement)
  • leading and implementing an outcome – based approach to Policy development and management
  • leading an outcome-based approach to the development and implementation of good practice corporate governance
  • leading the production of the Operational Plan (legislative requirement)
  • leading the production of the Annual Report (legislative requirement)
  • developing strong multi-disciplinary working partnerships and leading /facilitating Branch stakeholder engagement
  • leading Branch projects and successfully delivering project benefits

About You

The role holder will bring the following skills and experience to the position :

  • proven experience in strategic / corporate planning  
  • previous experience in policy development and management
  • previous experience in corporate governance
  • previous of leading and managing projects
  • highly developed interpersonal and communication skills ,with the ability to engage multi-disciplinary stakeholders and foster collaborative working
  • ability to consider complex strategic / operational issues and develop innovative solutions
  • a strong research and evaluation focus
  • excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills, including an ability to address meetings, facilitate groups, and prepare concise reports
  • highly developed people management skills, with previous experience in leading a team of professionals
  • experience of leading projects, demonstrating the ability to manage activity within resources to achieve goals and deadlines
  • a high standard of personal and professional ethics
