WA Health is committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination in the provision of our service. We embrace diversity and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities.

WA Health supports flexible working practices within the context of a quality health service. WA Health is committed to a smoke free environment across all buildings, grounds and vehicles.

Area Profile: With over 2,000 employees across an extensive range of pathology and support services, PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA is committed to providing excellence and innovation in pathology testing, teaching and research. We offer a round-the-clock commitment to the health needs of the entire WA community through our laboratory facilities, collection centres, results lines and on-call clinicians. Our pathology services cover the broadest range of routine, complex and rare tests, and our active teaching, research and pathology development programs assist not only in enhancing diagnostic accuracy but also in improving the understanding of disease processes and of clinical care.

PathWest recently entered a new era of pathology reporting, with the completion of the major roll-out of the new Laboratory Information System (LIS) in October 2020.

At an investment of $50.5 million to replace several ageing systems and databases, LIS represents one of the most significant developments in Western Australian public pathology services in 30 years. In fact it is one of the biggest system implementations of its kind worldwide.

LIS is now live across the State in PathWest’s 76 collection centres and 27 laboratories. It provides greater digital enablement and interoperability across all pathology disciplines including biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, haematology, diagnostic genomics, and anatomical pathology, as well as behind the scenes in financial services.

Position Profile: PathWest is moving to a new service model for its Information Communication and Information and Information Management (ICT&IM) functions. This has created an excellent opportunity for a committed experienced ICT expert to join the senior management team under corporate services as the Director ICT&IM.

The new Director will direct the strategic management and leadership of PathWest’s Information functions state-wide, incorporating ICT and IM, to ensure the service and systems are compliant with WA Health Systems and aligned with PathWest’s strategic direction and the relevant legislation, standards, policies and governance frameworks. You will be in charge of developing and implementing strategies for ICT and IM state-wide, to deliver optimal services, drive decision making, support pre/post analytical services, improve outcomes and support innovation, and ensuring all areas across PathWest are adequately resourced for service delivery requirements.

For the successful candidate, this is an opportunity to make a positive impact to the ICT&IM service model.
