The role:

Seeking a highly skilled Digital Adviser to support the management and governance of the Department’s social media and electronic direct mail (EDM) channels. Ensure they are monitored and able to deliver on user needs and the Department’s priority communication activities.

Plans, build, and publish articles, posts and newsletters for multiple audiences, and provide advice to help align channels and products to digital standards.

The role also actively participates in a broad range of communication tasks, events and activities to support the delivery of the Agency’s work. Ad hoc after-hours work may be required.

Previous experience working in the Public Sector is preferred and will be considered first. Immediate start, VPS4 rate. Apply now!


  • Contribute to the management of the Department’s social media channels, HTML newsletters and other digital channels, overseeing elements such as structure, accessibility, usability, analytics, metadata and system support
  • Contribute to planning and implementation activities to develop and improve digital channels
  • Use digital expertise and excellent writing skills to drive engagement
  • Support the development of communication action plans for the Communication Division’s campaigns and promotional activities
  • Moderate social media channels, working closely with subject matter experts to provide an approved response
  • Provide advice and training on the best ways to communicate with target audiences via digital channels
  • Use analytics to review content effectiveness, providing insights and recommendations for improvements/creation

About you:

  • Understands digital channels and how they can help deliver on communication objectives
  • Manages digital content effectively using working knowledge of HTML, analytics, image optimisation, and content management systems
  • Advises on digital communication practice and trends, including usability, accessibility, information architecture and metrics
  • Understands and applies best practice standards for web writing including appropriate structure
  • Able to edit written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in communications and/or equivalent professional experience is essential
