The Role
Cartage Australia is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer/Bookkeeper who can manage all aspects of the ‘life-cycle’ of the payroll and Admin process. This is a very busy role that will see you reconciling, preparing BAS and entering documentation to finalise monthly financial reporting. You will also be responsible for preparation of vehicle contracts and maintaining a large depreciation schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Preparation of BAS
- Reconciliation of bank accounts
- Month end journal entries
- Reconciliation of Company credit cards
- Preparation of payroll tax reconciliation
- Processing of accurate payroll in Arrow on a weekly basis for approx. 200 employees
- Preparation of monthly financial reports
- Workers compensation
- Maintain depreciation schedule
- Maintaining, implementing and complying with up-to-date information on changes to payroll and taxation legislation
- Ability to undertake a broad range of administrative duties
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 3 years experience in Payroll procedures and legislation
- Demonstrated experience in the management of payroll, including end to end processing of large payrolls, processing of termination pays, superannuation, and year-end processing
- Knowledge of Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, and relevant taxation rulings
- Relevant qualification in bookkeeping with 3 + years experience
- Understanding debits and credits and GST codes etc
- Experience in Quickbooks preferred
- Experience in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work within a team office environment and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and high level organisational skills are a must
