The Southport School is a leading Anglican Boarding and Day school for boys situated on the Gold Coast. The Southport School is now seeking applications for the position of Boarding Assistant Housemaster. The role of Assistant Housemaster is a key role in a Boarding House in that it provides leadership support and reports to the Housemaster. The role is involved in the day-to-day operations of the house along with the Housemaster and the other resident staff, and is responsible for providing primary care for the boys in the House.
We are excited to hear from candidates who are focused on a career pathway in Boarding and who aspire to lead their own boarding house. Candidates may have had some exposure to a Boarding environment or recent leadership experience in delivering pastoral care programs. This role will have a teaching load and the School is currently seeking candidates who have recent experience in the following teaching areas: Year 7, Business and Enterprise, Religion and Ethics, and/or English.
Candidates in their application are encouraged to expand on their:
- Boarding experience or articulate an understanding of both the demands and/or challenges of a boarding environment (if no recent experience).
- Involvement in, or leadership of, a pastoral care program (not necessarily in a boarding setting);
- A personal statement identifying the way in which the candidate would contribute and value-add to the boarding house and wider community; and
- Additional or extra/co-curricular contribution.
Teaching experience as noted above will be considered highly beneficial.
