Holyoake is a leading provider of counselling and support services for people impacted by alcohol and other drugs. We operate through five locations in Victoria Park, Midland, Northam, Narrogin and Merredin and employ over 95 staff.


Holyoake operates the Wheatbelt Community Alcohol and Drug Service (WCADS) and is inviting applications from suitably qualified Counsellors to work within our Wheatbelt service.


We currently have a part time Counsellor vacancy available in our Merredin office.


We would like to hear from professionals who have expertise in the delivering of quality counselling to individuals and families who present with Drug and Alcohol problems and complex needs. The successful applicant will need to maintain a busy case load and implement group programs where necessary. This is a great opportunity to work within a dynamic supportive team environment.

This position is based in our Merredin office and will require some outreach to various locations within the Wheatbelt. Our counsellors work closely with colleagues and are provided with regular supervision and line management support.  


The Alcohol and Drug Counsellors key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a clinical case load that focusses on comprehensive assessment, planning and the goal setting needs of clients.
  • Provide best practice counselling and clinical intervention for individuals, groups, couples and families affected by alcohol and/or other drug use.
  • Maintenance of clear and comprehensive case notes and files and contribute to record keeping and data entry as required.


The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • A tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling or similar
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drug issues
  • Understanding of comorbidity in relation to clients presenting for alcohol and drug issues
  • Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Current National Police certificate and current Working with Children Check
